Day 11 Thursday May 16: Arches National Park overview + Moab

Our intent this day was to take a leisurely drive through Arches National Park since Thomas had never been here before, have lunch at the Moab Brewery and this relax in the afternoon on the lovely patio at our campsite. Elizabeth even promised to not take any pictures as she was coming back and spending all day Saturday doing just that.

The day went pretty much according to plan with the addition of a drive along the Colorado River Gorge to the Red Cliff Inn, Castle Creek Winery and Film Museum. This took somewhat longer than expected and we did not arrive home until @ 4:00 PM – Oh well! Then time for laundry!

Here are some photos of the day you might enjoy:

I Lied! I did take just a few pictures of this
homestead in Arches from the 1880’s.
Gives you a whole different perspective on
western pioneer living than the TV westerns
I watched growing up. Home Sweet Home?
At least there was a water supply and great view!
An early realtor’s dream:
“Location! Location! Location!”

Even some flowers to brighten our pioneers’ days:

The Colorado River gorge was totally unexpected and equally awesome:

Tom finally gets to meet one of his heroes at the movie museum:

On the way back through Moab, these incredible wind machines caught my eye at an art gallery:

Would love this one for my garden (“Hint Hint!”):
Only $1200!

We finally did relax and put our feet up:
