Day 5 Friday May 10, afternoon in Santa Fe Part 1: Food and Architecture

One of the first questions a person is asked in Santa Fe is “Red, Green (Verde) or Christmas?” This does not apply to decorations, but to the spiciness of the cooking sauce on the unique New Mexican cuisine. I begin here because after we set up the RV we headed to Old Town for an authentic lunch at Guadalupe’s. Hunger satisfied, I proceeded onward, camera in hand, and Thomas headed back to the RV for some R&R.

I focused on the following areas: Architecture, Art and Shopping, all three of which Santa Fe does very well. The Planning Commission here must work overtime; all structures, even coming into town, are mainly adobe in various earth tones of taupe, sienna and other earth tones. There are no skyscrapers and all buildings blend into the landscape. Even McDonalds follows the plan:




The overall affect is charming from outdoor courtyards to skylines:
